Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a Health Coach at this stage of my life?

Perimenopause/Menopause is a very complex and delicate stage for most women and a “one size fits all approach” does not work. I offer a holistic, individualized program based on your values, goals, and aspirational identity.  We will be exploring the obvious such as nutrition and exercise, but also diving deep in to root causes for symptoms, emotional health and relationships, and spirituality.  My mission is to help my clients be the best and most beautiful version of themselves using a holistic approach to wellness.

Why are the programs so expensive?

I’m glad you asked!  In simple terms, you get what you pay for.  There is no better investment than an investment in your own health.  My focus in on lifelong benefits that will not only improve your health but the health of generations to come.  Think about the money we spend on clothing, shoes, hair, nails, etc.  Now what would it look like for you and your loved ones if some of that money was spent on your health and improving your quality of life?

Why should I choose you as my Health Coach?

I’m walking the walk!  The reason I became a Health Coach is because I was in your shoes and needed help.  My premenopausal symptoms began in my mid-forties. I was always pretty healthy and active, but when I started having symptoms, I felt scared and frustrated.  I was gaining weight, not sleeping well, and experiencing hot flashes all which led to a major decrease in my self-confidence.  I found the support I needed and now feel better than ever!  If you are looking for an empathetic Health Coach that has first-hand knowledge of what you are going through, I’m your coach!

Why choose Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)?

Perimenopausal and Menopausal symptoms are related to decreasing levels of hormones. Those symptoms include depression, irritability, short-term memory loss, hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, low libido, fatigue, and weight gain. HRT has been proven to be the most effective treatment for these symptoms.

Does HRT cause blood clots, cancer, and other potential health risks?

No, just the opposite! HRT has come a long way since the days we used horse urine to create hormones. Bioidentical hormones actually decrease the risk of breast and colon cancer, diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, osteoporosis, and more. HRT has been shown to support heart and bone health and decrease cancer risk for the rest of your life.

Is there a natural way to deal with perimenopause/menopause without taking hormones?

Everyone is UNIQUE!  We will explore the different ways to approach this stage in life and determine what works best for YOU!

Do I have to exercise in order to lose weight?

You do not have to exercise in the traditional sense however we must keep moving!  Whether it is walking, playing with your kids, or riding your bike to see a friend, keep it moving!

I hate going to the gym! Do I have to join a gym in order to begin an exercise program?

No, although joining a gym does have its’ advantages, we can customize workouts you can do at home or anywhere!  There are so many options now regarding home workouts and online classes.  The key is not where you work out but the consistency of your workouts!  Keep an open mind and be open to trying new things.

Will weight lifting make me look “bulky”?

This is one of my favorite questions and the resounding answer is NO!  Unless you are taking steroids, the fear of packing on too much muscle is unfounded. Women naturally lack the amounts of testosterone needed to build bulky muscles. Instead, you will look leaner, stronger and fit. Lean muscle will help you burn fat and lose weight if that is your goal.

Do I have to go on a specific diet or buy a certain product to be a part of your program?

No, we will be exploring different types of foods and diets as well as your relationship with food.  This program is not about counting calories or food morality. Our focus will be on finding the right, nutrient rich, diet that fits your individual health needs.

Are there foods that I will have to eliminate?

No, however there will be foods, herbs, and spices that we will want to add to your diet in order to aide in overall health.  You can still eat your favorites, just in moderation.  We can also come up more nutrient dense versions of your favorite as well.  The only caveat to this would be foods that are causing digestive issues.

I’ve tried everything and I can’t lose weight, how is this different?

We must first start with mind-set, relationship with food, and programming.  These are deep topics that must be addressed in order to achieve your health and wellness goals.  There are legitimate reasons why we can’t lose weight such as hormone imbalances, stress level, eating high sugar and highly processed foods, underlying health conditions, poor sleep etc.
